Une approche dont peuvent s&#8217;inspirer les managers.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>De r\u00e9centes \u00e9tudes d\u00e9montrent que l&#8217;implication et l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9 sont multipli\u00e9es lorsque les entreprises se centrent sur les points forts individuels et collectifs. Dans les ann\u00e9es 50, Peter Drucker a formalis\u00e9 dans le livre &#8220;Devenez Manager&#8221; sa vision des points forts, dans une approche utilis\u00e9e par Tiger Woods pour devenir l&#8217;un des meilleurs joueurs de golf de tous les temps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;ann\u00e9e 2000 fut une ann\u00e9e m\u00e9morable pour le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre golfeur : il gagna 6 tournois cons\u00e9cutifs, battant ainsi le record de la plus longue s\u00e9rie de victoires depuis 1948. Il est devenu le seul athl\u00e8te \u00e0 avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 &#8220;sportif de l&#8217;ann\u00e9e&#8221; \u00e0 deux reprises par le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre magazine Sports Illustrated ; sa prestation \u00e0 l&#8217;US Open fut qualifi\u00e9e de &#8220;plus grande performance dans l&#8217;histoire du Golf&#8221;\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiger Woods avait pourtant une faiblesse majeure dans son jeu qui aurait pu devenir un frein \u00e0 sa performance : ses sorties de bunker (creux remplis de sable d&#8217;un parcours de golf) pour lesquelles il \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s mal class\u00e9. Avec son coach sportif (Butch Harmon, qui l&#8217;accompagna de 1993 \u00e0 2004), ils n&#8217;ont pas consid\u00e9r\u00e9 cette faiblesse comme une &#8220;zone de progr\u00e8s potentiel&#8221; mais comme une composante de son jeu \u00e0 g\u00e9rer pour qu&#8217;elle ne vienne pas entraver l&#8217;expression de son potentiel. Ils d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent alors de passer la saison d&#8217;entrainement sur l&#8217;un de ses points forts : son swing (mouvement du joueur pour frapper la balle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le r\u00e9sultat de cette strat\u00e9gie lors des comp\u00e9titions en 2000 fut \u00e9loquent, et plus particuli\u00e8rement au cours de l&#8217;Open britannique \u00e0 Saint Andrews qui est \u00e0 la fois le plus ancien tournoi de golf au monde (cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1860) mais aussi un des parcours les plus riches en \u2026 bunkers. Le point fort de Tiger Woods, son swing, \u00e9tait devenu un coup si puissant et pr\u00e9cis qu&#8217;il a surmont\u00e9 sa faiblesse : il fut l&#8217;unique golfeur \u00e0 ne tomber dans aucun bunker pendant les 4 jours du tournoi. Il remporta le tournoi avec 8 coups d&#8217;avance, \u00e9tablissant un nouveau record dans un tournoi du Grand Chelem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>La m\u00e9thode Tiger Woods<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiger Woods a incarn\u00e9 en 2000 ce que Peter Drucker conseillait d\u00e8s les ann\u00e9es 1950, ces deux hommes se rejoignant profond\u00e9ment sur les actions suivantes :<br>&#8211; aligner les points forts et les valeurs (l&#8217;esprit de jeu autant que de comp\u00e9tition de Tiger Woods)<br>&#8211; arr\u00eater les comportements (s&#8217;entra\u00eener sur les sorties de bunkers) et renoncer aux convictions (les<br>faiblesses sont les meilleures zones de progr\u00e8s) qui ne contribuent pas \u00e0 l&#8217;expression de ses<br>points forts (comprendre ce qu&#8217;il ne faut pas faire est aussi important que de savoir quoi faire)<br>&#8211; investir par l&#8217;acquisition de savoir, savoir-faire et exp\u00e9rience pour se transformer<br>&#8211; et choisir sa zone d&#8217;excellence \u2026 Michael Jordan sur un terrain de basket, Tiger Woods et son<br>entraineur Butch Harmon sur un parcours de golf, l&#8217;\u00e9quipe d&#8217;Oakland Athletics et son manager g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Billy Beane sur un terrain de baseball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et vous ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Identifier ses points forts et leurs modes de fonctionnement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;La plupart des gens croient savoir pour quoi ils sont dou\u00e9s. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, ils se trompent. Le plus souvent, ils savent ce pour quoi ils ne sont pas dou\u00e9s &#8211; et m\u00eame l\u00e0 ils se trompent encore souvent. Et pourtant, on ne r\u00e9ussit que sur ses points forts&#8221;, estimait Peter Drucker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce dernier propose plut\u00f4t de confronter aspirations, potentiel et performance pour identifier nos points forts, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 une meilleure connaissance de nous-m\u00eames. Constatant que les points forts &#8211; en grande partie uniques &#8211; font partie int\u00e9grante de notre personnalit\u00e9 d\u00e8s notre plus jeune \u00e2ge et avec une redoutable stabilit\u00e9 dans le temps, l&#8217;auteur propose de nous accepter tel que nous sommes (&#8220;n&#8217;essayez pas de changer ce que vous \u00eates &#8211; \u00e7a ne marchera probablement pas&#8221;) et d&#8217;en tirer le meilleur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e9couvrir comment fonctionnent nos points forts est plus efficace que de chercher pourquoi nous n&#8217;arrivons pas aux r\u00e9sultats escompt\u00e9s (&#8220;Il est curieux de constater combien peu de gens savent comment ils font ce qu&#8217;ils font &#8220;\u2026 et notamment ce qu&#8217;ils r\u00e9ussissent.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Multiplier son efficacit\u00e9 en se centrant sur les points forts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter Drucker propose plusieurs pistes :<br>&#8211; Aligner nos points forts et nos valeurs pour \u00e9viter tout conflit, et s&#8217;assurer de la compatibilit\u00e9 entre<br>nos valeurs personnelles et celles de l&#8217;entreprise pour laquelle nous travaillons.<br>&#8211; Arr\u00eater les comportements et missions, voire renoncer aux relations, convictions, valeurs qui ne contribuent pas \u00e0 l&#8217;expression de nos points forts. Comprendre ce qu&#8217;il ne faut pas faire est aussi important que de savoir quoi faire. En identifiant points forts et faiblesses, &#8220;on verra vite o\u00f9 l&#8217;on ne doit m\u00eame pas essayer de faire quoi que ce soit. On verra les points o\u00f9 on manque du minimum de dons n\u00e9cessaires &#8211; et pour chacun de nous, ils sont nombreux&#8221;. Peter Drucker consid\u00e8re qu&#8217;il faut &#8220;consacrer le moins d&#8217;efforts possibles \u00e0 s&#8217;am\u00e9liorer dans les domaines o\u00f9 notre comp\u00e9tence est faible \u2026 il faut beaucoup plus d&#8217;\u00e9nergie et de travail pour passer de l&#8217;incomp\u00e9tence \u00e0 la m\u00e9diocrit\u00e9 que pour passer de la performance \u00e0 l&#8217;excellence&#8221;.<br>&#8211; Investir pour transformer un potentiel en point fort par l&#8217;acquisition de savoir, savoir-faire et exp\u00e9rience : &#8220;travaillez, longuement, \u00e0 vous am\u00e9liorer dans le sens de vos qualit\u00e9s.&#8221;<br>&#8211; Passer du savoir \u00e0 l&#8217;action pour transformer un potentiel en une valeur ajout\u00e9e r\u00e9elle pour notre environnement : &#8220;Agir en fonction de ce talent particulier est la cl\u00e9 de la performance ; ou plut\u00f4t, agir sans en tenir compte, c&#8217;est se condamner \u00e0 l&#8217;impuissance.&#8221;<br>&#8211; Choisir sa zone d&#8217;excellence en identifiant puis se positionnant dans le contexte (espace, temps,<br>syst\u00e8me relationnel\u2026) qui permet aux points forts de produire performance et r\u00e9sultats.
